You will see a sacred place set aside for the worship of the Lord God Almighty.

It contains an Altar, a Tabernacle (which contains the Consecrated Hosts), pews, statues, and candles.

The focus is the Altar, upon which the Sacrament of the Eucharist takes place. It is the most important Sacrament and is from this that all the Graces flow.

.

from The Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition, English translation 1994CCC 1181: A church, "a house of prayer in which the Eucharist is celebrated and reserved, where the faithful assemble, and where is worshipped the presence of the Son of God our Savior, offered for us on the sacrificial altar for the help and consolation of the faithful - this house ought to be in good taste and a worthy place for prayer and sacred ceremonial."

Catholic AnswerIn this day and age that is a loaded question as many "modern" Churches look more like vast auditoriums than Catholic Churches. A traditional Catholic Church is divided into a sanctuary and a nave. The sanctuary would have an altar, a tabernacle, an ambo, a Crucifix, and a credence table. The nave would contain pews for the people, along with kneelers, confessionals, Stations of the Cross, a baptismal font, holy water fonts. Beyond that most Churches are different, although you would commonly see a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and probably the Saint for whom the Church was named, along with stained glass windows, etc.

The structure of a church varies widely, but generally you find a sanctuary or similar room where worship services take place. Some churches may include classrooms, offices and dining areas.
