The K designation is Suzuki's latest way of designating each model of motorcycle.

e.g the first GSXR-1000 was introduced in 2001 and was designated the K1, the 2002 model (an identical model) was the K2, and so on until next year when they will either continue using the K designation for the next decade or change it to another letter.

Previously Suzuki used just letters for their model designations, with the GSXR-1100 starting at G and finishing at the V model.
