You might want to ask the mechanics at the garage to double check this; but generally a loom refers to the place where the wiring harness goes through the firewall. If your wiring harness is messed up it will cause all kinds of strange electrical things to happen. Replacing electrical components will not help as they will still not function correctly. The cause is shorts at different places in the wiring. This is usually caused by cracked insulation on old wires. Intermittent starting problems are often the result.
