Simeon believed that the Infant Jesus was the Messiah that had been predicted to come into the world, as he had been told by the Holy Spirit that he would see the Messiah before he died and on that day the Spirit had led him to come to the temple .
The old man in the temple who at once recognized that the baby of Joseph and Mary was the Messiah, he also told Mary that a sword would Pearce your heart because of him. He also said now let your servant depart in peace. He was about 80 years old but he was sure it was the Messiah the people had waited for centuries to come.
Simeon was the holy man from the Gospel of Luke who was allowed to see the Messiah, Jesus, before he died. He prophesied sorrow for Mary, saying a sword will pierce her soul, referring to the pain she would experience watching her son's crucifixion.
According to Luke 2: 28 (see 28 - 35 for context) the old man Simeon did this.
Simeon and Anna were two elderly devout Jews who met baby Jesus when Mary and Joseph brought Him to the temple to be presented to the Lord. Simeon recognized Jesus as the Messiah and praised God for allowing him to see the salvation of Israel. Anna, a prophetess, also gave thanks to God and spoke about Jesus to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

The bible does not tell us his age, but one thing is very clear he was a very, very old man.But he was the man who recognized Jesus was the savior even with his dim eyes.
