There were times in the Old Testament when God commanded the people to kill, such as when they had to put someone to death for breaking certain laws of God, and also when they had to kill the pagan inhabitants of Caanan. But they were not to kill at times that they were not commanded by God to do so. Unjust killing, such as killing someone out of hatred or envy, without a specific command from God to do so, was forbidden. In the New Testament, Jesus taught that we were no longer to kill even our enemies, but we are told to LOVE our enemies now. Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (Jesus said this.) Even in the Old Testament there were examples where a Jew was to love his/her enemy, such as the great respect David showed to King Saul, who was persecuting him, but since Saul was King, David showed him respect because it was God's commandment to respect those in authority. These different examples may seem contradictory on the surface, but when you take The Bible as a whole, you understand that God does command some things that are for one circumstance, but not for other circumstances, and since Jesus came, we are now not to kill anyone at all.

A:The first four of the Ten Commandments were written to command obedience to the Jewish religion, and the remaining commandments were concerned with social harmony. The fifth commandment tells us to honour our parents, which is a commandment about family relations. This was deemed so important that the Bible says that if a son strikes his father, he must be killed.

A:The fourth commandment says to do no work on the Sabbath, nor to require or request others to do so or even allow a slave or animal to do so, although it is almost never honoured. The Book of Exodus explains this commandment because God rested on the seventh day, whereas the Book of Deuteronomy justifies it because God led the Israelites out of Egypt. There is no other biblical explanation of the commandment or of any other underlying values represented by the commandment.
The Sabbath of the Bible is Saturday. Christians adopted Sunday as their holy day when their cult absorbed the sun-god Mithras, whose day is Sunday, naturally. Christianity also took the Nativity story and many other important images from Mithraism. The Bible did say that Saturday is the Sabbath not Sunday. It says so in the fourth commandment "remember the seventh day to keep it holy". And Saturday is the seventh day, not Sunday. God rested on the seventh day, but Jews rest on Saturday, their sabbath. Christians (are meant to) rest on Sundays. EDIT: I believe that Sunday is the Sabbath, which would explain why Latino Cathloics start their week on monday, just as God did... Now Christians and Catholics celebrate the sabbath on Sunday, and Jews on Saturday, so it depends on how you interpret it, but I feel Sunday is the seventh day... EDIT: Sunday may seem like the seventh day. But if you really think about it, our calender is different from the Jewish calender and our calender states that Saturday is the seventh day, so the fourth commandment may be stating to the day of Saturday as the seventh day. Sunday, even thought Saturday is the 7th day, technically
The fourth commandment!
The seventh-day Saturday Sabbath was the day after the crucifixion, and we know this because the women rested that day according to the fourth commandment of God. Therefore, the crucifixion had to have occurred on a Friday.
