Both are exclusive groups: the Smoke only accepts Uglies who refuse to turn Pretty, whereas only Pretties are allowed in New Pretty Town.
In the book "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld, both the smoke and the new pretty town represent two different ways of living and societal structures. The smoke is a rebellious community living outside the mainstream society, challenging the ideals of beauty and conformity. The new pretty town, on the other hand, symbolizes the superficiality and artificial perfection that the characters in the book strive for.
tally is the main character of the book all she want to do is to get pretty

In the book "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld, Tally undergoes a physical transformation to become a "Pretty" as part of society's standards of beauty. However, the novel also explores deeper themes beyond physical appearance and raises questions about individualism and conformity.
The climax of Uglies is when Special Circumstances discover and destroy the smoke. They take away the smokies home, where they are accepted for who they are on the inside, rather than the outside appearance. -kaka
