Depends on whether its automatic or stick.
I would like to know where the cam sensor is on a 1999 pathfinder and is there one or they calling it a crank shaft sensor The cam shaft position sensor is located in the distributor.
If you mean what is the purpose of the speed sensor on an auto transmission do, then the answer would be it replaces the speedometer cable. Basically it picks up how many revolutions the wheels are making and sends that to the ecu (the computer) and the computer computes how fast you are traveling. All speed sensors do the same job, just some for different purposes. Some cars have speed sensors on all wheels which is used for abs braking, while some (Like this pathfinder) have one used just to tell how fast you are going.
If the speed sensor is for an Anti-lock braking issue, you will normally find 1 at each wheel (accessible when the wheel is removed). Another location would be on the transmission. How about where on the transmission? Like on the bottom behind the exhaust pipe!
Go to Kragen.com and search for speed sensor. You will find a picture of it.
The speed sensor is located in the bottom front of the engine, it looks like a small distributor. the vSS Vehicle Speed Sensor is located next to the oil filter
The output sensor looks like a AA battery with wires leading into it. It monitors the speed of the motor and allows for real time adjustments as needed.
Srry i have no clue but ya might want to check any lines in route to the transmission.
It sounds like your speed sensor has gone bad. You can pick one up at a salvage yard for about $50 +/- (Take it to a shop and make sure.) If the sensor is not bad check your electrical wiring.
Sorry to burst your bubble but their is no speedometer cable on a escort, it utilizes a input and output speed sensor on the transmission, and the Drivers information center uses a tiny motor that receives a signal from the Ecm, it uses the output speed sensor from the transmission to give you a vehicle speed. They just dont build them like they used to.

I am looking for the same thing, but 2001. My pathfinder getting overheat after about 10 minutes of driving, however when it is idling on parking the temperature stays perfect. I found one thing that look like a bleeder valve in 2001 pathfinder. It is located right behind the engine, look like a straw with a rubber cap on it.
Sounds like the speed sensor on the transmision, or the conector on same. It could also be an under dash fuse. I am not familar with the accord but my civic speed sensor fuse is shared with about four other sensors and the voltage regulator. Hope that helps.
