Do you mean what does the word "Old" mean in the word "Old" Testament?

If so, the word "Old" means that this group of Books ( 39) comprise the "Old Covenant/ Old Testament" This book contains the covenant that God gave to the Israelites through Moses, "The Law of Moses" on Mount Sinai after the exodus from Egypt. Although the book contains much more than the Law.

Five Books of the Law.

Twelve Historical Books.

Five Poetical Books.

Seventeen Prophetical Books.

This "Old" Testament is in contrast to the "New" Testament or the New Covenant.

Jeremiah 31:31 tells us of God's promise of a New Covenant, although we see the germ of it as far back as Genesis 3:15, and bits and pieces relating to it throughout the Old Testament.

The Messiah was promised in the Old Testament, but does not show up until 400 years after the last book of the Old Testament was written. This promised Messiah was primarily to the Jewish people, but did not exclude the Gentiles.

The four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were written in Old Testament times and announced the first coming of the Messiah, which (He) turns out to be Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Jesus was sent to the "House of Israel" and that is who He primarily preached to and minister to.

As things turned out the Jewish people rejected Jesus as their Messiah and so God set them aside for a time and turned to the Gentiles to provoke them (Jews) to jealousy.

Has God forgotten the Jews and done away with them? NO, there is a time coming after the Great Tribulation when the remnant will turn to Jesus Christ as their Messiah, the one whom they pierced.
