Tino and Victor were fighting at soccer practice in the book "Tangerine" because of a disagreement over playing time and team dynamics. Tino felt that Victor was taking advantage of his position as the star player, while Victor thought Tino was being disrespectful and undermining his authority. Their clash ultimately stemmed from issues of competition, power, and pride within the team.
I think it was because coach Warner was stopping Tino and Victor from attacking Erik and now that Paul and tine/Victor are cool Paul decides to take their back. :)

I'm not sure that Paul was affected by racism. Besides the fact that when he first meets Victor and Tino they think less of him. Since he's from a richer community .Joey was highly affected by racism. He called the students of Tangerine Middle "Natives in the Amazon Jungle".
