You can look at the bottom right corner of your taskbar. Or you could hit the start button, hit wireless and networks, and check your wireless network connection status.
The status bar presents information about the document and the progress of current tasks and provides controls for viewing the document.
Profile tab > my account > uncheck the box next to "Display my connection status"

Open network connections from control panel. Right click on your wireless connection. Click properties. Click on wireless networks tab. Click properties. Click on Authentication Tab. Clear the box for "Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network." Click OK to exit. Status should now be "connected". This seems to be a common problem w/XP and wifi, especially is you're using WEP. You'll still have to enter your password for your wireless network to get connected.

It depends if you have a good connection it will connect but if its under50% or what ever the limit is it wont
The Status Bar is the area at the bottom of the Excel screen that shows the Zoom level, the viewing mode, and the current mode.
I've done some research on this as well, because of some ()/%&85(= wireless router: in the system network menu - where you can see the status of your ethernet connection - it's supposedly listed besides 'router', right underneath 'subnet mask' (above that 'Ip address' is listed).
