I checked the owners manual and the wrench light in the overhead warning lights comes on after aproximately 7700 KM ( 4800 miles ) or 358 days to indicate routine service should be performed
You need an oil change.
According to the 2001 Mercury Cougar Owner Guide : The wrench light in the overhead warning lights means : ( routine maintenance should be performed , the light comes on after approximately 4800 miles / 358 days )
Well, I know that on a 2000 merc cougar, if you press and hold the "Select" and "Units" buttons at the same time, it will reset the light. Hopefully this helps.
on the fuel computer controuls hold the units and select buttons for 5 seconds and it will turn off and you will here a chime
Press the select button and the unit button at the same time for four seconds. The answer is in your ford manual that came with the car.
This is the service interval light, it goes off every 4,800 miles to tell you to get a oil change, and perform routine maintenance. To turn it off, hold down the Select and Units buttons till it flashes and turns off.
I was looking at the 1999 Mercury Cougar Owner Guide and it does not show that it has a gas cap warning light
On a 2000 Mercury Cougar : That's your Anti-theft system status light
You are low on coolant.
If you're talking about that light that looks like a wrench, it involves the trip computer buttons. I believe they were the "units" and "select" buttons and you have to press them for five or ten seconds at the same time.
it is located on the light a switch that says 12sec on and off
Blown fuse
