If you get a blood transfusion and the blood does not match then the blood is most likely to clump. This is because your white blood cells detects an unknown substance within your body and thinks that the blood is a virus. The reason is because your body has no idea what it is and it is not compatible with the blood you have. You would most likely end up dying.

If you receive a blood transfusion, you are under no obligation to "return" (or "donate") any blood to back the blood bank. This is true both before and after receiving a blood transfusion - i.e you do not have to have donated blood previously, before you can have a transfusion. (At least, this is how it works in the UK). Nice to know, really.
No, you can only receive your blood type when you get a blood transfusion.

Blood type is the composition of your blood. Every blood type is different. In order for your body to accept blood in a transfusion, you must receive the blood that is compatible with you.
