I believe the first part of the phrase "love goes toward love as school boys from their books..." speaks not towards what it means to love someone and how a school boy and his school books can draw a descriptive analogy. Instead it states "love goes toward love" meaning the interaction is a random and chance circumstance even unexpected and without a seeking interest. Much in the same manner a school boy might have a similar interaction with their school books which is part of the meaning in the "... as school boys from their books..." section. Of coarse it is not till the rest of the phrase is explored that the complete understanding of "...as school boys from their books..." becomes fully appreciated.

So lets examine the second part of the phrase "...but love from love toward school with heavy looks." This is quite a complete contrast with the first half for "...love from love..." shows us there is a conscious awareness of each love and the other being that it is from the other love. So when love has discovered its' companion and it is no longer a random, chance, circumstantial, or even unexpected interaction we find a contrasting effect.
