Who benefited from the Feudal system?

Serfs. Being at the bottom of the social hierarchy meant that serfs did the bulk of the work and produced most of the goods, but the only benefit that they gained from the feudal system was the protection of their lords, which would oftentimes amount to no protection at all.

How did a medieval knight act?

Middle age knights were controlled by the feudal system. All of their life was controlled and the knights Templar was also formed in the Middle Ages. The members of the orders of Religious knights were both monks and knights and they took vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience as well as to protect pilgrims and fight infidels. This was a moral system of the knight. In the early middle ages the knight seemed more like an arm of the mob than the a knight of chivalry. They supported the laws and dictates of the feudal lord and would raid villages in the area. The church began to institute the vows mentioned above and the behavior was controlled. Knights owed a certain number of days to the feudal lord and were to train on a regular training schedule. They couldn't wear rings ( it was against the law) and could only wear the minor colors of nobility.

Who was the most important person in the feudal rule in 1066?

No. The king was the most important figure in the feudal system. He owned all the land in england and infeudated (rent in return for certain things such as military service) to his barons who infeudated it to knights and so on and so forth until the peasants. Therefore the priests and the church actually did not own any land at all making them less powerful if anything than prior to the Battle of Hastings. However King William had vowed to reform the church of England (hence gaining the papal banner to invade england with). Regardless of wether they gained or lost power, the church and priests were definitely not the most powerful people in the feudal system.

How does feudalism system work?

The feudal system was meant to help organize things for people (to help people). How it worked: What happened was that the king was at the top, and then the nobles were given land that was split up so they couldn't start a rebellion and the nobles gave their land to lots of knights which gave thier land to lots of peasants which farmed the land and paid taxes. The knights fought, and the king gave the noble more land so that he was richer. More land=richer you are! This kind of system was based on kept promises. If some promises were not kept, the entire system fails. For example, if a king gives 12 lords land to have in return for service, the lord promises to give the king knights to protect him. But if only 6 lords keep the promise, then the king isn't as well-protected and therefore has a chance to die.

Did Feudal Europe have a simple or complex government?

The feudal system is pretty simple. It can be broken down into 3 parts. 1. The Church who took care of souls 2. The Nobility who were suppose to protect people 3. Peasants/serfs who did all the work. The Church told the Nobility what they were to do, the Nobility was powerful through the approval of the church as well as having the knights keeping the population in order, and the peasants/serfs worked the land, raised the animals, fought/died in the wars, and paid taxes.

What are the difference of feudal japan and Europe?

The differences in feudal Japan to feudal Europe are very noticeable.1. Culture & BeliefsFeudal JapanIn feudal times Japan's major religion was Buddhism and Confucianism, they believed in honour and loyalty. This can be seen in the samurai, the knights of Japan in the feudal ages. Samurai were willing to die for their nation and commit seppuku (ritual suicide) to keep their honour rather than be killed or captured by their enemy.Feudal EuropeThe religion in Feudal Europe was Christianity. In feudal times Europe was very superstitious and the land was governed by the church. The church's laws were mainly based on their views of The Bible. People who showed any signs of witchcraft were sent to be executed. Things like black cats were seen as bad luck. All these things were around during feudal times in Europe.2. WarfareFeudal JapanFeudal Japan's warfare was different to Europe's because it was greatly influenced by their beliefs. As mentioned before Samurai's would commit seppuku (ritual suicide) to keep their honour. Their swords such as the katanas were different to the knight's sword. A samurai's armour would also be different; samurai would wear masks in an attempt to scare their foe. They would have less metl covering them than a knight would as well. Feudal Japan also had castles, at the beginning though they were made of wood and later became stone because of fire.Feudal EuropeIn Feudal times Europe had knights in shining armour. These knights would not suicide in the face of defeat but they would pray at least three times a day to God. They were meant to be good Christians and helpers to the needy. Unlike the Samurai they wore a lot of armour, the feudal 'tank'. A normal foot soldier stood no chance to a knight. Feudal Europe also had castles similar to Japan's.But both feudal Japan & Europe shared similarities as well. Their hierarchy was quite similar, both divided into two groups: Nobles & Peasants.

Why did the feudalism started?

The feudal system started after the Dark Ages, which was after the Fall of the Roman Empire. The Dark Ages was a time when there was no Law and Order and Europe was thrown into complete chaos. The feudal system came from this. A leader called Charmelagne first introduced this system in the eighth century (700's) to France, because he wanted help to control large areas of land and people. William the Conqueror then introduced this system to England after the he won The Battle of Hastings (1066). Suddenly, all of Europe was under the Feudal System. The Fuedal system can be best shown in a Hierarchy:1: The King. Very powerful and had most money. But would not do anything without first delegating with Church in hope of stopping rebellions.2: The Church. The Pope was the head of the Church and was almost as important as the king. People would go to war even if the Pope told them too. Gave advice to the King.3: Nobility. Lords and Bishops provided the king with money and advice. Would provide knights for wars and so on.4: Knights and Lesser Clergy (people in the church like monks & nuns.) Knights would fight in wars for the King. The monks and nuns would help people of the community.5: Peasants. They worked for the knights land or lords land as well as their own to pay tax. Had no rights and barely had enough to live. Were not educated so did not know how to read.
