Serfs. Being at the bottom of the social hierarchy meant that serfs did the bulk of the work and produced most of the goods, but the only benefit that they gained from the feudal system was the protection of their lords, which would oftentimes amount to no protection at all.

Well first of all, King William did because he got knights from the barons because william gave them land because he owned all of the land in France and england. barons give knights land to fight for william. so william, barons and knights benefit from the feudal system. the peasants didn't cus knights didn't give land to peasants to work for them on knights land

King William gained most from the feudal system because all he had to do was look after the little amouint of land that was his while everybody else was doing the work for him
