Hercules
That is not true (Hercules, who the heck is Hercules??) The breed has a standard that we as breeders must breed to. The males are to be around 25-27" tall at the shoulders, females 24-25" tall. Any taller than the standard for the breed is a no no. It is important to keep to the AKC breed standard if we wish to keep the bullmastiff looking like a bullmastiff.
I believe a mastiff is bigger. Bull Mastiffs are a cross between a mastiff and a bulldog.
The Mastiff is the taller of the two but the Bullmastiff is more compact and muscled. The correct spelling is "Bullmastiff" all one word. The bullmastiff was originally from approx. 60% Mastiff & 40% Bulldog (the bulldogs in those days were much larger and lankier plus way more aggressive). The Bullmastiff was recognized as a true breed here in the USA in 1924 I believe.
There are several breeds of Dog referred to as Bull Terriers, and the largest is the American Pit Bull Terrier (or American Staffordshire Terrier) standing at between 17 and 19 inches at the shoulder. Another is the English Bull Terrier, which should stand at between 21 and 24 inches at the shoulder, but there is no defined height for this breed in the Kennel Club breed standard. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier usually stands at between 14 and 16 inches at the shoulder, but should not be much larger as it may be classified as a Pit Bull Terrier. Another breed is the Miniature (English) Bull Terrier, which should not be taller than 14 inches at the shoulder or it may be disqualified from professional showing. So, overall the largest of the Bull Terrier breeds is the American Staffordshire/Pit Bull Terrier.
The correct spelling is "Bullmastiff", all one word. The Mastiff is the larger (taller) of the 2 breeds. The bullmastiff is shorter in height but more compact like a wrestler.

Type your answer here... I saw a Bull Mastiff on Sunday in Orillia Ontario at the Port and he wasn't even full grown. This dog weighted 265 LBS. and that is not a typo. Biggest dog I have ever seen. The head probably weighted 100 LBS alone. Massive dog...not fat...solid muscle and extremely friendly.
NO! It it's Mastiff X Dane. The Bull Mastiff came about in a similar way and was Bull Dog X Mastiff, but is now a breed in it's own right.
Probably the bull mastiff
bullmastiff is more aggressive because it is in the breed
The Old English Mastiff.
