They are quite costly compared to 'normal' cars, most of them can't go as fast, or accelerate so quickly, andcertainlycan't go so far on a charge (the main disadvantage), and there are not so many charge points around as there are petrol stations. Also, when the batteries need changing because they are duff they are very expensive. Mind you, there are some which accelerate very quickly, so these things are not necessarily true of all electric cars
