The speed sensor on the 1998 Nissan Frontier is located on the undercarriage on the passenger side of the vehicle. It is near the rear drive shaft on the transfer case.
If you have a 4 Wheel Drive (AWD) model it is the cylindrical shaft that comes from the area of the engine compartment back to the rear axle. If you have only a 2 Wheel Drive model your vehicle will not have one.

look at the front of the engine on the bottom pulley known as crank shaft at a 10:00 position and another one at bottom of the bellhousing where the transmission meets the engine slightly to the passenger side
A standard cab has a one piece drive shaft.
Probably at the power steering pump. You will find that at the side of the engine that has your drive belts, most likely at the passenger's side and toward the back and top of the engine.
