Women served in the WAVES & WACs during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. They were auxiliaries supporting the American Fighting Men. Their predominant duties were as medical nurses.
US Women performed the same duties in WW2, Korean War (Film: MASH), and Vietnam...as nurses. US Military women were in the WACs, WAVEs, WAF, WM (Women's Army Corps, Women Allowed in the navy Voluntary Emergency Service, Women in the Air Force, and Women Marines). Those services were disbanded when the ALL Volunteer military came on line in 1975. During the Vietnam War, Women were women, men were men.
As with most, if not all women in the military from Vietnam and before; were auxiliaries. In Israel they also performed the functions of instructors...thus relieving men from those duties...allowing men to fight. 21st century military women are fairly well equal across the board today; no matter what their nationality.
Vietnam Women's Memorial was created in 1983.
Vietnam women's football championship was created in 1998.
Women were volunteers.
The Vietnam War was fought with a traditional American military; as with WW2 and the Korean War before it, with women serving as nurses. Those past wars were fought with women in the WAC's, WAVEs, WAFs, and WMs (Womens Army Corps, Women Allowed in the Navy for Voluntary Emergency Service, Women in the Air Force, and Women Marines). In 1975, to make room for the ALL VOLUNTEER military, those women "corps" were DISBANDED.
alot of women died in the Vietnam war died
yes
Women did not "fight" in Vietnam. They were not in any combat units serving as combatants. They were nurses and other support. They did a great service by mending our wounds, giving us comfort and being there in our support- God bless them all. They left their families and friends, traveled half way around the world , gave up all the comforts they could have had and put themselves in harms way- all for the American soldier. They were a rare breed of women....
nothng
They appeared to mirror allied military men. Young and older men, and females were relegated to support duties (transport & repair) and primarily to duties defending their homeland (North Vietnam) in the anti-aircraft defense systems.
