Are golden eagles bigger than bald eagles?

Some sources claim that golden eagles are larger and others claim bald eagles are larger. That is not surprising, since their size is close to being the same and statistics for their sizes varies.

Golden eagles have a height of 33 to 38 in (84 to 97 cm) and a wing span of 6 to 7.5 feet(1.8 to 2.3 m). They weigh 6 to 15 lbs (3 to 7 kg

Bald eagles have a height of 34 to 43 in (86 to 109 cm), with females being slightly larger than males. Their wingspan is 6 to 8 ft (1.8 to 2.4 m) and they weigh 6.5 to 14 lbs (3 to 6.5 kg).

From the New York Department of Environmental Conservation site:

Golden eagles measure 27-33 inches (70-84 cm) in length, has a wingspan of 78 inches (2 m), and weighs 7-14 pounds (3.2-6.4 kg).

Bald eagles measure about 30 inches (76 cm) high, have a wingspan of 72-84 inches (1.8-2.1 m), and weigh between 8 and 14 pounds (3.6-6.4 kg).
