She was groomed, trained, tutored and educated for the role of a Monarch from an early age. Her studies included languages, world history, music and the arts. She was destined to bring forth heirs for a distant realm.

She was home-schooled in Vienna and her education was certainly very much neglected. With the exception of the Italian language, all that related to belles letters, and particularly to history, even that of her own country, was almost entirely unknown to her.

She also hated to study (she couldn't concentrate for very long and wanted to go play outside and have fun with her brothers and sisters) and knew precisely how to charm her teacher, Countess of Brandeiss, so that she would do the homework for her.

Empress Maria Theresa (Marie Antoinette's mother) and Francis I (her father) thought that so long as they were virtuous and proficient in the female arts such as music, tapestry work and watercolors, they would know enough to make accomplished wives. What more could be asked of them?

By the time Marie Antoinette went to France, it became painfully clear that the way she was educated, was absolutely not sufficient.

She didn't go to school she was tutored by a close friend and trusted lord of her mother's (her mother being Maria Theresa).

Marie Antoinette's Education was very "slap dash" and when she left for France it was noticable how bad her education had been.

Like most Royalty she had special tutors that provided lessons in subjects like history, philosophy, arts, political science. languages, astronomy, music and religion. By the age of 14 she was multilingual, had promise at the harp, was an equestrian of merit and could have qualified for several degrees at the MA or MS level. She would have been the Homecoming Queen and would have been listed in the yearbook as "Most Likely to Succeed.". In today's society she would have had people lined up with job offers. She would have smashed the "Glass Ceiling" and searched for new challenges.

The education of Marie Antoinette consisted mostly of lessons by private tutors. For instance, she was taught Italian by the poet Metastasio.
