I've gotten conflicting info from different mechanics about too much oil. One said no problem, the engine will just "throw off" excess oil and that I need an extra quart if I change the oil filter. The other said that it would cause higher oil pressure and eventually break down the seals.
No, this engine uses a timing chain, not a belt. With normal oil changes the rest of the engine will wear out before the chain.
A close examinination of the images on this web sitehttp://www.sae.org/automag/techbriefs_07-00/05.htmwould indicate that it does not.It has a timing chain. recommended change 90,000 miles.
There are sporadic reports of head gaskets blowing when the head bolts strip out of the aluminum block. It seems the only long term repair is to replace the short block.
