Port talbot during the industrial revolution was good for making tin and limestone. The housing was good and illness was not a severe as in merthyr. Port Talbot also had a better standed of life and the wealthy talbot family built the docks to transport coal to other countries. The population grew, people had more money, kids could go to school, better conditions and better equipment
The Industrial Revolution took place in England between 1750 and 1850, everything changed, mining, transport, agriculture and even technology. Population grew at a considerable rate. Cheap labour was readily available. From 1829 Middlesbrough sustained high growth in technology and population. It was to become, in a very short time, a port for North East coal. The railways came in 1833. From 1840 Middlesbrough Dock was built. Ironstone was found in the area in 1850. From then on, ironworks commenced and steel works followed. Middlesbrough set the world price for steel. The town became known as Ironopilis. The fortunes of the area have declined, but the town was/is a symbol of the Industrial Revolution
It provided a convenient port for settlers in the interior.
Because it was a large industrial city & a major port
In 1965 Hyundai won the bid to build the Thailand Expressway. In the 1970s the company was granted a major contract in the Middle East. It successfully completed the Jubail industrial port in Saudi Arabia
Port to port is the preferred method passage in most cases, however it is not always possible or practical. Also in crossing situations it maybe unsafe to arrange a port to port passage. I have seen plenty of acceptable starboard to starboard passages.
