Helium is the gas usually used now. Hydrogen works, but is inflammable and so dangerous. There are also hot air balloons which require a heater to create the hot air and keep it hot.

Which gas is used to fill balloons?

Helium is normally used in balloons that float. Helium is the second lightest gas. Hydrogen is lighter, but it is also flammable and thus dangerous. When normal air is used to fill a balloon, the balloon will not be buoyant. If you fill a balloon with air from your lungs, there is a bit more water vapor and a bit more carbon dioxide and a bit less oxygen in the air inside the balloon, but that has a small impact on the buoyancy. The larger balloons that carry people are called hot air balloons because they are filled with hot air. They are buoyant because the hot air is fractionally lighter than normal air but there is a lot of it.Weather balloons and party balloons both use helium gas.As long as the gas plus the balloon is lighter than the air it displaces, the balloon will float in the air.Helium is normally used in balloons that float. What is the gas that will make us floats in air?

There is no gas that can make humans float in the air naturally. However, helium gas is lighter than air and can be used to fill balloons, causing them to float.

What makes a balloon float?

All balloons do not float. Those that do are filled with a gas that is less dense than the surrounding air, so that is is displaced upward by weight of the denser air. Small balloons are typically filled with helium, a much lighter gas than the nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere. Larger balloons may be filled with heated air, which occupies a greater volume and is therefore "lighter" than air outside the balloon. Some dirigibles (airships) were filled with the lighter but flammable gas hydrogen. Hydrogen can be split from water and used to fill thin plastic bags, which will also rise into the air like balloons.

How do helium balloons work?

helium balloons get filled with a amount of air in which is called helium it is used to make balloons float around in air. helium is a inert, gaseous element!!!!!yea i kenisha am smartHelium is less dense than air, therefore a helium-filled balloon will float in air.Helium is lighter that air, so it effectively floats on air. As a helium balloon is submerged in air, it rises upwards (like an air filled bubble in water).

Which gas do you use for hot air balloons?

Hot air is used for hot air balloons.
