"The Telltale Heart" is a prime example of seeing how a simple thing like an eye can drive a person completely insane. Why does it work? It could be us. That is the magic of Poe. The normal is abnormal.
Take "Cujo" with a lovable St. Bernard with rabies. Both authors answer the question "what if?"
