Yes there is, but it depends on the cavity, I once had a little cavity and they just sealed my teeth, if you get a big or spread cavity then you pretty much have no option, but anyway it doesn't hurt that much they once pulled one of my teeth when I was seven. By visiting a dentist for evaluation and possible filling.
for teeth if you have a bad cavity or if you are missing some of your tooth
To treat a cavity or cracked tooth a filling is used to fill the area of the tooth where the decayed material was removed or where the tooth is cracked. There are several filling materials available including gold, porcelain, silver amalgam, plastic, and resin.
You can get rid of a cavity by having the tooth pulled. If you want to keep it, you have to have it filled.
when you get a filling, they drill some of the tooth which has a cavity and fill it. When you get a root canal, they drill all the way down and take out the nerve of the tooth. Getting a root canal is more painful then a filling.
....Yes, yes she will. XD .....Well she is not taking mine !
Yes there is a problem. It means that you have a major cavity and you should have your wisdom tooth checked right away. The dentist would either tell you to do a filling on it if it is out enough and if the cavity is not too deep. The other alternative would be to extract it.If the tooth is well out and the cavity is into the pulp chamber (nerve), you might save your tooth by doing a root canal on it. That needs to be discussed with the dentist.By Cyberanto

The amount of "discomfort" depends on the location of the tooth and the size of the cavity. Usually, the dentist will numb the area, which isn't that painfree, but after that, all is well.
Dentists mix a liquid called 0.1m NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) with particles of Cement.
The dentist will probably have to slightly enlarge the hole and put in a new filling. During the time since the filling fell out, the food you have eaten will have worn down the sides of the cavity and so the dentist may not be able to make a new filling stay in place without tidying up the cavity.
