The old school 2.5L 4cyl iron duke, or the 2.8L V6. Beyond thoes two which came from the factory, there are a variety of engines that CAN be put in a fiero. No engine conversion is ever "Easy", as there are always things that pop up. Some will need specialised adapter plates to fit the transmission, some will need special mounts. As with any engine swap, easy is a term relative to what your trying to do, your skills, and the tools you have available. Typically, ANY popular GM engine is "Easy" to swap with another GM product, meaning it can be done with a minimal of fabrication, however, do try and remember, that not all electrical systems work well together, for example, how do you plan to get the stock fiero tachometer to register the signal from a newer engine, when it works off a completley different signal? Is that easy for you to do? No? Well, some people find that the easiest part. Best advice, do your homework. Other than that, look into the 3.1, and 3.4, as I believe both of thoes blocks are externally identical to the 2.8 that came in the fieros. But again, do your research.
Yes, sort of, The clutch is different.
There is someone with a Olds 455 in his Fiero, but he had to remove the trunk.
NO
Yes, a 3.1 will fit in the Fiero. They are the same block.
There's a kit for that. Check the internet for fiero clubs and ask around.

3.4 GM engines will fit quite easily with only changes in starter mounting, covers and the like. The 3.8 liter series I, II, III engines will fit nicely and work with the original transmissions with a little modification, wiring and computer modification and mount fabrication. The supercharged version really makes the car go! The V8 Swap is the ultimate power trip, but a much more difficult swap.
yes, its not a question of what will fit...its a question of how much money you want to spend.
