Did the Russo-Japanese War elevate World War 1?

The roots were present: 1. Germany goaded Russia (the Kaiser was a cousin to the Tsar) into war with Japan in order to eliminate Russia as a competitor in Europe. 2. Britain took lessons learned from the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905 and embedded those lessons into the new battleship HMS Dreadnaught launched in 1906. It would be these DREADNAUGHTS which would fight in WW1. 3. European military officers witnessed the effects of the machine gun in the Russo-Japanese War. Then went on to field these very same weapons in WW1. Bottom line: The Russo-Japanese War of 1904 could be looked upon as a practice game for the play-off game to occur in 1914.

What was in the small bottles soldiers in the Vietnam War carried their helmets?

Sometimes it was mosquito repellant; but 99% of the time it was LSA (Lubricant, Small Arms). If a GI didn't have some LSA, he sure had to borrow some from one of his buddies (and that buddy would tell him in very clear words to start packing his own LSA!). Every weapon carried by GI's in Vietnam, from the .45 pistol to the M16, to the M60 and .50 caliber machine guns were semi or fully automatic weapons...and they NEEDED constant lubrication. If they didn't get lubed...they JAMMED! Machine gun belts of 7.62mm (.308 cal) and .50 caliber were constantly lubed prior to feeding into the guns. M16s and M14s were lubed (oiled) in the receiver groups (receiver housings). When the guns fired, a mixture of heat, and burnt gunpowder, all mixed with the burning oil to become permanently embedded into the GI's memory for years to come. That mixed with the scent of a tank's diesel engine and some crushed jungle leafs (vegetation) make for some memorable evenings.

Why did men sign up to World War 1?

Why Men Signed up for the First World WarPropagandaA lot of people fell victim to the lies that the government embedded into posters and stories that were created for the First World War.Propaganda was normally trying to portray the Germans (or the opposing side) as some form of monster, and all of the people fighting on the British side as heroes. This justifies the reason for going to war and at the same time persuades men to sign up. Several made-up stories were planted into the tabloids which stated the Germans doing something completely immoral. Things like this helped trigger anger and hatred towards the Germans and sooner or later more and more people started signing up.Other techniques were guilt trips. Messages such as, "We are fighting for our country. Are you?" were used with hopes of making people feel guilty for not joining in the war.Heroic FeelingMany people who signed up for World War One wanted to show all their friends that they were brave, as well as attracting girls. Some of them were also in it for the adventure, but after a few friends had joined up more seemed to follow.ConscriptionConscription was introduced in 1916 forcing all eligible men to fight in the war. It was the best act for the government who were beginning to get desperate for more men after people back in Britain had learnt how horrific World War One truly was.Feel free to improve this and hope it helps - Tro95Also men thought that the war would be over by Christmas

Why was the battle of Salamis important to Greece?

It is chiefly Salamis's proximity to Athens that gave the island its importance in ancient Greek history. The island is located in the Saronic Gulf just off the coast of Greece near Athens. The most famous episode involving Salamis was during the 2nd Persian War in the Battle of Salamis. This was when Themistocles, one of the Athenian generals taking part in the allied resistance against the Persians, realized his city could not be saved from Persian attack. He convinced all the women, children and elderly of Athens to take refuge on the island of Salamis while the able-bodied men of Athens and many other Greek city-states took to ships (called triremes) and fought the Persians on the water instead of on land. The geography of the Saronic Gulf around Salamis helped to minimize the Persian's main advantage, the sheer number of troops and ships, and even the odds for the far fewer Greek fighters. So while the Persians were able to burn the city of Athens (making way for the Parthenon and many other famous buildings still present today), they were not able to defeat the Athenian people, partly because of the island of Salamis.

Why should one do internship in embedded systems?

Why not? Embedded Systems design is one of those majors in which you really need to be involved in the industry to learn the concepts, to realize when to use PLDs, when to use Processors, When DSPs! You might have studied some courses regarding embedded systems at university or even accomplished some projects, but this Embedded Systems is a great example of Real-Life applications. So if you have the chance, go ahead and apply for the position! ;) Good Luck Ramtin Kermani RAMTIN (TheSign!) ASU (AndTheDOT) EDU
