What equipment would you need to hookup your laptop to a pair of audio monitors for DJing?

Your laptop likely has an un-amplified audio out for headphones and the like. You could rig a cable to an amplifier and then from the amplifier to speakers. Real basic but it will work.
A better set up is from laptop to a mix board where multiple inputs could be connected. Then split signal to two amplifiers one for mid to highs and one for bass. Run a really big amp on the lows and a decent one on the mids to highs. One big sub and two great mids with tweeters.
This is just the basics there is a lot to learn so try reading and not asking if your going to get in to it.

Is rap the same as hip hop?
pretty much so. Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but sometimes people use hip hop to refer more to the music aspect of the art, like songs where people are rapping, and rap as the general term for spoken rhyming verses. For example, there are a lot of rap battles out there where people spit verses with no instrumental, and that makes it pure rap and not as much hip hop.. but honestly the words are usually used interchangeably.

If you store music on your computer, then just plug your MP3 player into the computer and all of your music will be loaded onto your iPod within minutes. CDs take a while to burn, but CD players are good for traveling if you don't have a laptop, since you can always find a CD store where you can buy new music. CDs are better for live DJs because right now, the live mixing technology is still better (although more expensive) with CD than MP3. I'm trying not to be too biased, but it's hard to think of any advantages to CDs. MP3 players are far more flexible. I'm a mobile DJ and I use CDs for DJing, but only because I've got thousands of dollars invested in CD turntables, which aren't exactly portable. I bring literally thousands of CDs with me to every gig, but then I have trouble keeping my music library organised, so when a song is requested and I don't know off hand where it is in my CD collection, I often just play it off my iPod, which means I can't do much mixing. -DJ Craig Thats easy, an iPod is just a smaller version of a portable CD player that can hold a much larger amount of songs along with videos and pictures. I have a nano and love it. I highly suggest getting one. You can put all your CDs onto a device the size of a small cell phone.
