Sharks were first found to have existed in the Ordovician Period which was 450-420 million years ago. Sand sharks are also known as nurse sharks.
The first abundant fossil evidence first appeared during the Paleozoic Era. It was the first era of the Phanerozoic Eon, which occurred 540 million years ago.
Not sure what era but fossils of cats were found that dated back to the Eocene period. Cats came around in the 19th century.
