Both disliked the British.
French made an alliance with the United States.
The event that led to an open alliance between France and the United States was the American Revolutionary War, particularly following the American victory at the Battle of Saratoga in 1777. This success convinced the French government of the viability of the American cause, prompting them to formally ally with the colonies through the Treaty of Alliance in 1778. The French provided crucial military support, resources, and naval power, significantly contributing to the eventual American victory over Britain.

Battle of Saratoga
During the revolutionary war, the French gave the US money, supplies, and generals for our armies. This led to the Fraco-American Alliance in 1778 after the war which was a binding military alliance. The Franco-American Alliance caused issues when Britain and France went to war and the US stayed neutral. France didn't feel like we held up our end of the bargain on the treaty, so in 1800 the contract was devoid. The US now tends to side with Britain in most political issues and has an underlying hatred of France.
They first supported us during the American Revolution, providing military support after our victory at the Battle of Saratoga.
Because the french came over to help the Americans in an alliance... and then they eventually conquered the British!!!!!!!!
According to Historians, since the onset of the French Revolution the U.S. Republican Party wanted to remain neutral from the conflict and keep their alliance with the French.
Britain in WW I was part of an alliance known as the Triple Entente (entente is French for understanding) which also included France and Russia. The US later joined the alliance, helping to defeat the opposed alliance which was known as the Central Powers.
The French Indochina War most likely led to the (so called) American Vietnam War. Because the French war divided up the country into TWO nations; North & South Vietnams. When the communist led North Vietnam attempted to take over (conquer) South Vietnam... this led to US involvment.
