The geopolitics of the Crimean War of 1853 -1856 involved Great Britain, France and Turkey declaring war on Russia. The geopolitical reason for this was the attempt by Russia to take advantage of its position on the Black Sea to expand its sphere of influence. The other geopolitical aspects of the war was to preserve the guardianship of the Holy Land and to prevent Russian expansion into the Balkans. In this situation, the politics of all parties involved along with their geographical locations all played into the role of a geopolitical war.
There was no strategic or tactical value in taking Switzerland. It didn't go anywhere, except to the alps, was not a historical enemy, was not a gateway to another country, but it COULD defend itself well enough to waste many German soldiers lives in taking it.
If anyone's wondering, no, I'm not planning world domination. That would be a quickly failing, fruitless venture. I'm actually writing a novel, but I'm no good with the factual kind of stuff, just the creative part. I've already looked into the strategic points in several of the warring parties (USA, Canada, Russia, Japan, et cetera), so I don't need help with internal strategy. I already know the Hawaii and Midway are important locations in the Pacific, and the Islands in the Caribbean are important too. You can also omit the UK and Japan, as I'm already aware of their strategic importance. Thank you for taking the time to help.
Apathy was the main cause of decreased citizen interest in Roman government. Many of the citizens simply did not care and from the time of Caracalla, were not even Romans. It was difficult for some in Spain or Syria to get excited about an election held in Rome or Milan. As for taking part in the local elections of their home towns, the cost of a campaign was high and there was little opportunity to recover them.

There is no single event that all experts in geopolitics agree is the best illustration of this term. The term is defined as " a combination of political and geographical factors relating to a state"While no single event can be isolated as "best", there are a great many examples of where geopolitics has had major affects. Some to the point of wars that caused the deaths of millions of people.Listed below is two examples of geopolitics, one is a simple example and few people may not be aware of it. The other example is one the major ones that were a plague on humanity.Example A. Small time example:During the US Civil War, it was known that one of the most despotic countries in the world was Russia. Yet it supported the US Federal government during the Civil War. The reason was based on geopolitics. Lacking sufficient warm water ports during the Winter, the USA allowed the Russian Navy to practice maneuvers off of the US East & West coasts. Russian support or recognition of the Confederacy had no advantage to it.Example B. An example of grave importance:Ever since Japan's modernization and becoming a recognized world power, its industrialized economy was dependent on other nations for the natural resources Japan had. It was a relatively small country and it lacked a bucketful of minerals, metal ores and petroleum products. The huge nation of China had these resources and there was petroleum in the Dutch East Indies. The attack upon China in 1931, can be said to be an example of a geopolitical event of immense proportions. There were other reasons for Imperial Japan's quest for war, but obtaining the natural resources it lacked by war was a large reason for Japan's military adventures beginning in 1931.

The Crimean War, also known in Russia as the Eastern War (October 1853[13][14]-February 1856) was fought between the Russian Empire on one side and an alliance of France, the United Kingdom, the Kingdom of Sardinia (which would be absorbed into Italy in 1861), and the Ottoman Empire on the other. The war was part of a long-running contest between the major European powers for influence over territories of the declining Ottoman Empire. Most of the conflict took place on the Crimean Peninsula, with additional actions occurring in western Turkey and the Baltic Sea region. This was influenced by an interest in or taking of land for its strategic location or products, called geopolitics.
