The opposite of predicting (foretelling the future) would be recounting (telling the past). The opposite could also be not making a prediction, and simply waitiing for the event.
Such a long range forecast is not possible.
Prediction of volcanic eruption (also: volcanic eruption forecasting) is an interdisciplinary scientific and engineering approach to natural catastrophic event forecasting. Volcanic activity prediction has not been perfected, but significant progress has been made in recent decades. Significant amounts are spent monitoring and prediction of volcanic activity by the Italian government through the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia INGV, by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and by the Geological Survey of Japan. These are the largest institutions that invest significant resources monitoring and researching volcanos (as well as other geological phenomena). Many countries operate volcano observatories at a lesser level of funding, all of which are members of the World Organisation of Volcano Observatories
A prediction is the strong belief that something will happen. It is said to be a true prediction if the event happens. Before the event takes place, you would have to ask the prophet/psychic making the prediction what it means. After the event, or after the prediction is proven false, you can see for yourself what it means.

If a scientist notices an event that continually happens due to another event or action, he can predict, If this event happens, this event will happen next.
There will be no zombies in 2012. 2012 is just a prediction. Not a proven event.

The sinking of the Titanic in 1912 played a significant role in shaping the philosophy of prioritizing safety and emergency preparedness. The tragedy highlighted the importance of proper safety protocols, training, and equipment to prevent such disasters in the future. This event served as a catalyst for improvements in maritime safety regulations worldwide.

One event that helped start the Renaissance was the fall of the Byzantine Empire.
Yes. If an event can be predicted accurately, people can use the information to prepare an appropriate response.
One special event that was a highlight in Albert Einsteins' life was when a solar eclipse let British astronomers confirm the general theory of relativity.
