The assasination of Archduke Francis Ferdinand.
The spark was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. In 1908, Austria-Hungary had annexed the largely Slavic province of Bosnia. Serbia had wanted Bosnia to create a Slavic (Eastern European ethnic group) empire. In 1914, Ferdinand was invited by Bosnia's governor to see the army run through maneuvers. A Serbian nationalist group, the Black Hand, made multiple attempts on his life. Gavrilo Princip's was a success. After the assassination, Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia. If the smaller nation didn't comply, there would be war. Russia stepped in to aid its fellow Slavic country. It sent troops to its border with Germany, Austria's ally, as a precaution, but Germany took it as a threat and went to war. Events continued to spiral, dragging Belgium, England, France, Bulgaria, the Ottoman Empire, Italy, Japan and all of those countries colonies into a world-wide conflict.
they covered it with cheese because that was the main food they could access

Various campaigns of the War- the Battle of Britain ( RAF-Luftwaffe) the various terror-bombing Blitzes or lightning assaults- Blitzkrieg lit. Flash Warfare. and on the High seas the Battle of the Atlantic- logistics in the ETO_ European theatre went mainly by ship and were, as Churchill wisely observed- the dominating factor in the entire war ( in the ETO). Uncle Sam got on the logistics band-wagon- and rapidly!
In the late 18th century, the American Revolution had been building for quite some time before the significant "spark" was lit. This spark came at Lexington, Massachusetts, in April of 1775, where a small force of brave Americans quietly stood in protest against approaching British "redcoats", were fired upon, ran from the field, and then regathered at the next town down the road, Concord. Joined by reinforcements, they drove the British from Concord and thus began the War for Independence.
The "match that lit the fuse" of World War 1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo June 28th, 1914.
A fuse lit with a match
There was no fuse. It was not an explosion in anything like the usual sense.
A fuse or lit splinter of wood.
Because someone lit the fuse.
A small cardboard roll filled with explosive and lit by a fuse.
Mission Impossible-I guess the fuse is still lit
change the fuse
The Sarajevo murders lit the fire when previous events did not because a Prince was killed. It was also spontaneous while the other events seemed to be planned.
He lit the fuse and then ran as far as he could before the explosive could detonate.
Sounds silly but on most vehicles its actually a lit cigarette
Check parking and tailights usually the same fuse controls all Maybe the dimming rheostat is open
