∙ 12y agoThe inner planets have less mass and less gravity, so they can get closer to the sun without the gravity of each pulling the planet into the sun. Any gaseous planet that got too close to the sun was pulled into it, due to the huge gravity of the sun and the planet, so only the ones further away survived.
