For the most part Franklin D. Roosevelt won the election for president in 1932 because of the dire straits of the US economy. The sitting president, US President Hoover, was blamed for the depression. To many people Roosevelt was seen as the best hope to have the economy recover.
He promised to help the situation of the poor and working class. He promised to create more job opportunity and to lower the tariffs.
The issues were people blaming hoover for everything that's happened to them so when it came to reelection then voted FDR and he made things even better.
