As you know, there was no one reason for the fall of the western part of the Roman Empire. A group of university students compiled a list of over 400 factors that led to the loss of the western territories. The main ones are: the weakened army due to the defensive lines being stretched too thin, the pressure on the borders by the so-called barbarians, the draining of the financial resources of the west i.e. spending with no source of replenishing, and the lack of a strong leadership both in the government and in the military.
