the concept of fast food (selling premade food) started as far back as the Romans with bread and wine being sold on the street, so I suppose it'd be safe to assume so. The earliest date I saw for the first fast food restraunt was White Castle in 1921.

∙ 9y agoThere were only a few fast food restaurants open in 1943. A&W Drive Ins opened in 1919 and White Castle opened in 1921. The restaurant that became McDonald's opened in 1940 as a barbeque drive in. There were also some local fast food places.
