What is in a computer? well it really depends on what someone does with it. But all working computers have a few simple things. 1. motherboard (main part of computer) 2. processor (this allows the user to actually do things on it and the higher the CPU speed the faster and better it does those things) 3. Power supply (transfers electricity throughout the PC) 4. Ram Chips (Memory transfer station) 5. Hard drive (holds all saved info for later access) 6. video chip (most modern computers come with it built in motherboard but most people prefer PCI/e slot cards for the fact that most cases they are better) 7. chip-sets (this is built into the motherboard but without it your computer will not run)

And that is what is inside a computer. but some people differ from that by adding other cards to the PCI, AGP, or PCI/E slots.

ps. most computers come with a built in sound card but few do not which means you would have to buy a Sound card and fill up a free slot on motherboard.

Your standard, basic computer will need a few things. A Centeral Processing Unit (CPU), motherboard, Random Access Memory (RAM), and a Power Supply Unit (PSU).

Those parts will allow you to build a basic functioning computer. The type of those parts will depend on the system requirements of whatever software you wish to use. If you would like to support a monitor, you will need a graphics card. If you would like to support sound, you will need a sound card.

Refer to the system requirements of the software you'd like to use to aid in the selection of components you will use to build your computer.

Physically, computers have multiple chips that allow them to perform their tasks quickly and efficiently. Computers contain a hard drive which lets them store data, a CPU which processes data, RAM which keeps your computer running fast, and other devices. Digitally speaking, computers contain data stored in the format of ones and zeros. (Binary) This data can be represented by a file on your computer, such as a document or video.
