PSP emulators are used when a PC player wants to play a PSP game on the computer. Since PSP discs can't be inserted in a computer, one can download an emulator and run the program there.

A torrent is a file that you download that links you to other peers who are sharing it, to download the file the torrent specifies. To download a torrent, you need a client such as utorrent. A psp torrent I am assuming is a .torrent file used to download psp games.
All available emulators for psp are listed and available for download at the Encyclopedia of Emulation, for which you will find a link below. There are more than 50 consoles/computers that can be emulated on PSP.

The image file you used as the wallpaper for your psp may not be recognised by the software on the psp, the exact software in question is called a codec (most think these are just for videos but are used for music and image files), computers have a larger range of image software and therefore more likely to have the codec needed to read the file.
