Many firearms manufacturers are owned and operated within the US. Among the more prominent manufacturers are Colt, Kimber, Springfield Armory, Bushmaster, Browning, Winchester, Marlin, Mossberg, Remington, etc.
Unless I have missed something, All Ruger firearms are made in the USA. Other makers brand forign made guns. But none of Ruger firearms are forign made.

The same way you register a firearm made after 1940. In MOST of the US, there is no registration of firearms. Firearms made prior to 1899 are legally classed as antiques, and not as firearms. Not aware of anything special about 1940 in US gun laws- but you may be in another country. If so, check with law enforcement where you live.
