In 1916 the Mexican flag was same as the Italian flag, but had the Mexican coat of arms in the white part. In 1968 the aspect ration of this flag was changed to make it different than that of the Italian flag. the Italian flag aspect ratio is 2:3 (1 to 1.5), more squarish in shape, while the Mexican flag aspect ratio is 4:7 (1 to 1.75), resulting in a longer shape.

The flags of Hungary and Iran have the same colour of the Italian flag, but the stripes are horizontal instead of vertical. The Hungarian flag as the green on top and the red at the bottom. The Iranian flag had the red at the top, the green at the bottom and the national emblem in the white part and the writing God is Great in Parsi written in white and 22 times along the fringes of both coloured stripes.
