The second plane, United Airlines Flight 175, hit the South Tower of the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m. EST, on September 11, 2001. It struck the South Tower between floors 77 and 85, killing all passengers and crew onboard the plane, as well as an unconfirmed number of people in the South Tower.
The first plane crashed into the North tower at 8:46 am. The plane crashed between the 93rd and 99th floors.
Most people who were able to escape and survived were below the floors of impact. The south tower actually had one stairwell that was still intact after the plane hit it, so some people even above the floors of impact were able to escape because of that.
