There are many types of food wrapping such as plastic wraps, aluminum foil, etc. However, many of them are not microwave safe. Most [if not all] kinds of plastic wrappings will melt if put in the microwave. Aluminum foil is actually a metal, so that is a definite no-no for the microwave.
The only thing I suggest if you want to microwave food in a wrapper is wax paper. However, even some types of wax paper might not be suitable for the microwave. Your best bet is to use a bowl/plate that you know is microwave-safe, or use a paper towel under your food. Nothing will happen to the paper towel if you heat your food correctly [in a suitable time frame].
And of course, make sure your food is in an OPEN container/wrapping. Closed containers can cause it to explode as the steam that is created might force the container lid open. Keep it open [this includes wrappers, don't wrap the food so tight] and let the steam come out to avoid any explosions.

yes
No, they are mostly heated by the food they contain as the food heats up.
You die :P
No more or less so than food cooked by any other method.
Microwaves aren't safe, but microwaved food is.

No. Microwaves just excite the water molecules in the good. Once the microwave is done running, it does not leave anything harmful in the food.
just with the same food
Trans fatty acids and amino acids are changed from left handed structure to right handed when exposed to microwaves. Lab animals eating only microwaved food died where the others lived a normal life span. Probably has the same effect on people if they ate only microwaved food.
