The tudors had to make sure that the foods they carries aboard ship would not spoil during a long voyage. They often carried salted meats and fish, pickled eggs, and dried grains such as rice. Sometimes they brought live animals such as chicken and goats.
Yudor Sailors would have drunk ale for breakfast, and possibly also beer. Water was not safe to drink in those times and beverages such as tea and coffee were not introduced to England until much later. Tea was being drunk by the time of Queen Anne. I think coffee came into society around the Georgian era.

In Tudor times, food wasnt as readily available as it is today- for instance, sugar was very rare and was only eaten by the gentry and rich farmers. The food that was of any real taste wuality was usually very expensive, so expensive that poor tudors couldn't afford it.
