According to Lord Krishna's Bhagavad-gita foods that are offered to Him first in sacrifice carry no sin when eaten. They include foods from the groups of fruits, flowers, grains, milk, nuts, beans, water and their derivative products. These are in sattva-guna, or the mode of goodness.
Meat, fish, eggs, anything produced of blood and semen, intoxicants, liquor, etc are not offerable, and not to be eaten.

Totally avoid beef, and pork! Oh, and obviously things like rice, chappattis etc. Wheat stuff..... (BTW: I know these things, because I am an Indian)
