sugar snap peas, fruit, salmon, whole wheat pasta I would also add in a "summer salad" good anytime of year of roughly equal amounts of simply diced tomato, diced cucumber, and diced sweet onion(or the onion of your choice), mix with about 1/2 teaspoon LOW fat mayo, some fresh ground black pepper and other seasonings you know you like and have handy. Also an easy to make and healthy cucumber dip for veggies made of greek yogurt(not in the tiny little containers, but the next size up like a margarine size tub) peel a cucumber then take the seeds out with the handle of a spoon or what works best for you, and grate the cuke directly onto the yogurt. You'll THINK you've added too much, but most of the time, you just won't, and it's delicious and good for you. And always the versatile avocado. There are TONS of easy to make recipes for avocado, but a couple of my favorites(besides just eating right out of the peel or having fresh home made guacamole) is a Spinach and Avocado soup, and a baked, skinless chicken dish with cilantro, lime and avocado. Both super easy and fast to make. And best of all, they ARE good for you, and you can eat like this and stay within a budget, plus the advantage of just eating some really "good for you" foods where you really don't have to worry about calories OR carbs(or added sugars, corn syrups, and all the junk that companies add to their food to "make it taste better". You can skip all that and have some great stuff on the table in no time, made by YOU and not Chef Boyardee or Mrs.Paul or whoever, and have no worries about it at all because you'll have full control over what's in your food. Lemonhottie had put Salmon on her list and I totally agree, but sometimes $$ can be an issue, and anything you can do with a can of Salmon, you can do the exact same thing with Jack Mackeral for $1-$2 a can less of a drain on your budget, especially if you've got kids. If you make "patties" out of the mackeral, they'll love it, and the Jack Mackeral doesn't have the bones like Salmon does, even though they're soft and easily digested, some people are just funny about it for some reason. I noticed in the picture there are black olives. They are great! The downside is everytime I see them at the market, they're in a can vs a jar, so once you open it, you're pretty much obligated to eat them within a couple days or toss 'em out, and we waste FAR too much food in this country as it is. Fresh mushrooms are healthy and relatively cheap, but again, they have a short "shelf life" too. One week after opening is my MAX. The good part is they usually don't last that long around here anyway. Basically anything fresh and seasonal, especially if you can get it local, like from a farmers market is a good source, but they can be sorta high on some things. If you know how to can or have a dehydrator, all the better! I don't know how to can, but I use my dehydrator like crazy, and keep things like banana chips, cucumber chips, dried blueberries and other fruit like Lemonhottie suggested. You almost..keyword ALMOST...can't eat too much fruit. You'll know when you do though, so just back up a bit and it's smooth sailing from there. Raw Snow Pea pods are good to eat as they are, added to a salad, and I've even seen those dehydrated. All make great healthy snacks, great for on the road or sitting back watching a movie at home, and as before, you know where the food came from and exactly what's in it. Personally, the closer I can get to fresh and raw, the better, but that's just me. Dehydrating DOES cook the food to a point, but more it just removes the water content and there's a slight loss of vitamins, but nothing major. If you're lucky enough to live in or near the country, I'd definitely try to find people who raise their own animals on NATURAL diets, not pellets of who knows what, and corn. For fattening up a pig, that might be fine, but a cow doesn't naturally eat corn, nor does a chicken for that matter, and the farm raised meat isn't pumped full of antibiotics and growth hormone so they get to the market faster. It's ridiculous to see how chickens have mutated when you compare a factory farm raised bird to a natural one. The size of the breast is almost twice the size if not more, and that's not natural and there's no way it can be healthy, even though chicken is touted as one of the best meats to eat. Sure...if it's raised on a REAL farm, and not Tyson or Perdue where they raise mutant chickens. If it's in the chicken OR the veggies/fruits, it ends up in YOU. Avoid it at all costs!! If you choose Salmon(or ANY fish) by the lb instead of the canned, get wild caught. The farm raised is also fed a GMO pellet diet that isn't natural. One last thing...if you have a bread machine you can still have some good healthy bread, even though lately, bread's been gettin' a bad rep. If you use a really simple recipe, use ONLY Hodgson Mills 100% Whole Wheat, steel cut. The recipe I use calls for sugar...they ALL do it seems like, but I add local honey to mine instead. It's crazy good, especially with soups and stews, and old man Winter IS just around the corner, but give it a shot if you can. It's definitely good eats on this page, from start to finish. And since Lemonhottie mentioned fruit, I think I'm gonna go have a half a mango. Good luck with your diet, and don't forget that smoothies are a good healthy option too, and all you need is a blender and the goodies to go in it...kale, spinach, greeens of about any kind and fruit and more fruit. It always comes out green for me, so the first time I was like..umm...no! Until I tasted it. The bananas and strawberries got me hooked on 'em for a fast full meal in a glass. Again, good luck to ya!

Many veggies can be tasty and good for your health- carrots, cucumber, etc. Some types of meat can also be good for you, unless you fry it or has a lot of fat and grease.

Unfortunately the best tasting foods are often not as good for you. So it depends on what tastes good to you. Lean meats, vegetables and fruits are a good example of "good food"
