After a colonoscopy with ulcerative colitis, you should eat foods high in fiber, and you should drink lots of water. You should also avoid greasy food and eat smaller meals more often throughout the day.

Everyone with ulcerative colitis will find that there is no set diet for it. Many foods that may work for many people are equally as likely not to suit others with the condition. I have found many suffers agree that avoiding foods high in fat (e.g. really cheesy pizzas) and avoiding foods containing leeks and onions helps particularly during a flare up. Good things to include in your diet are smoothies as they are easier for your body to digest and you can pack them full of fruits with all the vital vitamins and minerals you can begin to lack in after/during a prolonged flare up. Mango is a good fruit to include as it is great for re-balancing the digestive system, it also helps with anemia and hair loss which is an added bonus.

Some people follow a low-residue diet or low-fiber diet every so often, getting about 10-15 grams of fiber a day ... Ask your doctor if they should be in your plan.
