Why was ulster so hard to conquer?

The reason the Irish failed to take Ulster back is because the people of Ulster didn't want to be Irish, they died and resisted, the British army which was sent over caused major drama creating opposing militia groups such as the IRA, anyone who wanted British rule was at constant threat from the IRA but the IRA were under threat from the British army, search up "go home British soldiers" it is a rebel song. Ireland never got Ulster back because nobody wanted them to.

Which Founding Father fought for the British during the French and Indian War?

No one. The colonies were still under English rule so there was no "founding fathers" at the time of the French and Indian War. George Washington did take part as a young British officer, but the fact he was to help found a nation was far in the future. He was not a very successful officer and was accused of the murder of the French diplomat he was escorting.

They never did. --- The British Empire does not exist. It collapsed in the 1930's and the members of the former British Empire were invited to join the British Commonwealth which exists to this day. Gibraltar has chosen to remain under British Sovereignty against the wishes of the Spanish who see this as belonging to Spain. In turn, Britain has promised to protect former colonies who wish to remain under British Rule such as the Falklands, Gibraltar and many other small nation states.
