One form I know for sure is injection penicillin. One of my close friend Judy from USA was born in 1939. She was 7 years old, when she received penicillin shots. Her cousins used to admire the sites of shot. The first dose used was injection only. Penicillin G is easily destroyed by gastric acid. Only penicillin V is effective orally. It must have been invented later than 1960.
